About the Book
Blurb: It's Christmas Eve and Gita has a special evening planned for her parents and sister. Neel will be there too. The evening starts with a note of warmth and hope and ends with a special surprise. And of course, there's the dose of drama that Gita had expected.
This short story is the third and final one in Gita and Neel's journey.
Snippet: Admiring the Christmas tree, Gita’s mother shouted out, “This tree must have cost a fortune!”
Gita pretended not to hear. She wouldn’t let anyone ruin her festive mood. Back with the mugs of hot cocoa, she left her parents alone again to get the baked goodies. She was happy that her father appreciated the cafe cookies and cakes so much. Throughout the year, she supplied him with his favourites and they never ordered in desserts from anywhere else.
Placing the tray in front of them, she took a seat.
“Where is your sister?”
Her mother would do this every five minutes until her favourite daughter showed up. Gita called Nita and handed the phone to her mother without a word.
The older woman demanded to know, “Where are you? We are waiting for you.”
Gita’s father was not listening. He was savouring every bite and sip. Gita chose a Santa cookie for herself, wondering if her mother noticed her presence at all.
Phone call done, her mother got straight to the point. “Where’s the young boy?”
